Indestructable Jacket
Received these just in time for my first college bass tournament of the year and I'm beyond thrilled about them. They survived the test of 4 days of rain and never had any issues. Jacket fit perfect for me being 6'4" I ordered an XL Tall and am glad I did. There are a few flaws I would love to see in the next model though. First of all having some sort of neoprene cuff in the wrist with a thumb hole would be great when running across the lake just to keep the rain from going up your sleeve. another possible improvement would be to have the hood be on the outside of the jacket so you could zip it up all the way and not be forced to have your hood up. Other than that I was thoroughly impressed with the durability of the product and highly recommend it to any angler.

Disappointed
Bought this jacket just over a year ago and I want to throw it away. Have always like Carhartt but this jacket plain out fails. No matter how little or much rain there is I get soaked. I need a jacket that breaths and will keep me dry. This one fails in a major way. If I am tailgating at a football game or at work in and out of my big rig I need to stay dry.

Nice jacket, plastic-y linning
The jacket is great, force extreme technology works great but the pvc lining makes for an uncomfortable time if you get warm or it is too humid. Feels sticky and sweaty even though you might not be.

Phenomenal Rain Protection
I've worn this through some pretty heavy downpours and have not been disappointed. Ever. I even trusted my phone to the breast pocket. You can rest easy that anything you put in that pocket will stay dry. I found it easy to move and lift with this jacket on. I'm 5'8", 170. The small fits well. I'd be swimming in a medium.

nice raincoat
Full disclosure..have not used the coat in a long, hard labor environment yet so thats why no stars for durability. I wanted a tough breathable rain coat with pit zips and it fulfills that. The hood adjusters on the sides dont hold their tension very long and Im thinking of different toggles to remedy that. The rear hood adjuster holds fine. The hood is built to accommodate a hard hat but will tighten down over a ball cap. Front zipper is waterproof and more delicate than the regular huge carhart zips. Im 5'10" at 180 and can fit a fleece under the coat no problem in a medium. Im a satisfied customer with a nice fitting tough breathable raincoat.

Feels big, weird hood
So, I bought this specifically for bicycle commuting as it was Carhartt's best option what with the welded seams and pit zips. First the good.

1. The jacket is waterPROOF. At least for now. It's only been through one rain shower, and not a heavy one. I'll be sure to update this review should it ever fail. However, the material is multilayered and seems very well put together. The welded seems are strong and I have high hopes that this will make it more than a season or two like so many rain jackets.

2. Breathability. Pretty decent. This winter has been especially warm and riding with just this jacket and my bike jersey in ~40 degrees was pleasant. I did sweat in it, but I sweat in everything. More importantly it didn't feel like things were getting super boggy inside, and the two-way zipper and zipped arm pits made fine-tuning the airflow a breeze.

On to critiques:

1. Fitment is strange. Looking at myself in the mirror the jacket seems to fit fine, but it feels very big, especially when I'm bent over the bike and the midsection just flops down. Carhartt is definitely designed with an American fit in mind, but I could have used something slightly more body contoured. Tried adjusting the waist but it literally just tightens the seal around my hips, the design is quite boxy (just as pictured by the model). I bought a medium and a small would not have fit given arm length. NBD. I got to work dry.

2. The hood. This is really the only thing keeping the jacket from getting five stars. The hood devours air. It's like a massive scoop. I'm not talking about when I ride, even out walking the dog this thing will catch a gust and fly right off my head. You can even see in the model photos how much space there is around the head. There IS an elastic adjustment, but trust me when I say it doesn't do much. When wearing with a helmet this restricts head movement and peripheral vision, which isn't great when riding through the city. I've managed, and I'm glad to stay dry, but a better fitting hood would have been clutch.

Would I recommend? Absolutely. I assume I'm using it outside of its design parameters, though I'm not entirely sure what this is intended to be used for otherwise... Either way, looks and feels like a high quality jacket, everything you'd expect from Carhartt.

I've had my jacket a little over a year and while I'm sure I don't use it to it's full potential It's worked well in many different situations. Love the zippers under the arms for the clammy Summer days and paired with a thick sweatshirt it's great for snow shoveling on mild winter days. The toggle on the back of the hood is super helpful because it is big. My only complaint is the zipper was troublesome and finally jammed up and broke. I contacted customer service, got a return label and sent it in. Received a new jacket about 3 weeks later, so it turned out OK. This zipper is easier to use so hopefully it was not a widespread issue.

Perfect 3XL fit
Like Goldilocks porridge: not too big and not too small -- just right, mighty comfortable. Could wear a sweater or light vest underneath. The permanently attached hood has bungee adjusters on both sides near chin and one center rear bungee which pulls from both sides. Arms are slightly longer on outside sleeve with nice velcro sizers. In the northern Maine winter I mostly wear a hoody underneath. Works great, even with hat. Three exterior zippered pockets are easily accessible and roomy, good place to stick gloves. One velcro fastened pocket inside left but lower down, abeam the outside pocket. Tag says Shell 2 is 97% Nylon, 3% Spandex. Feels like it. The fit and "wearability" are its best features IMHO.

GREAT GIFT!
Bought this jacket as a gift for someone who spends majority of his workday outdoors. It's light weight and easy to layer up with. He loves it! He's 6' and wears a large.
