995046 Hudson's Bay 4 Point Blue Blanket
Hudson's Bay Blankets were so important to early trade that they were considered a form of currency. These blankets are 100% wool, and still loomed in England. Woolrich is honored to be the exclusive U.S. distributor of the original Hudon's Bay Blanket line.
First offered for trade in 1670, Point blankets were so highly prized by Native Americans that they became important articles of trade - each short line or "point" woven into the edge of the blanket indicated the number of beaver pelts to be exchanged of the blanket.
Today, points are still woven into the blankets as a historical reference and to indicate the size of the blanket. Woven in England of select wools, these blankets are made to the exact specifications as they were over 300 years ago - through a blend of old world process and modern technology. |
