If you like Carhartt, You'll LOVE this jacket
This jacket is awesome! You can be warm and comfortable at freezing temperatures with just a t-shirt underneath; I risked my health and tried it for myself when it was -3 today (26 Fahrenheit). It's a little stiff out of the box but that's to be expected. I've read reviews before trying this jacket on myself, so I went with a size smaller than I usually do: I'm usually M or L, but this time I went with S. It's a snug fit but stylish, so I'll pass this on:

If you want to look good, get a size below. If you want it functional, such as to bundle up while working outdoors for long periods of time and more range of motion out of the box, get your regular size.

I can't see myself layering *too* much because it'll be tight, but I won't need to because the jacket provides good warmth on its own.

The hood was a little annoying at first, I'll admit. It was sticking way up, nor did it fit my head properly because it was so stiff. Since I'm an impatient person and don't want to wait a few weeks to break it in, I came up with a solution that will probably help anyone who found the stiff hood to be an inconvenience:

Get a rubber mallet, put a bag over it so it doesn't leave your hood dirty, and hammer the hood from the inside and outside for a bit. Be careful not to hit the zipper or the drawstring eyelets because you'll damage them. Just hammer it lightly for a few minutes on both sides, and it'll be perfect. Keep it mind that it is fabric so you don't need to get all medieval blacksmith on it, just hit it lightly enough to soften it up.

After all this, I found it to be a great jacket well worth the price. The strict and minimalistic look of the jacket allows both style and function.

Also, I gave four stars for quality because there was some incomplete stitching inside the sleeves of the jacket and loose threads, and while not crucial and perhaps even uncommon, I wanted to write an honest review. I should mention that while the sleeves of the jacket were a perfect length, I found this jacket to be a little on the shorter side overall, and putting my arms up causes it to ride up a little.

I'm sure this jacket will last me a long time, and I'm very proud to have an American-made jacket.

great product
I've had one of these jackets for over eight years & put it thru all types of abuse. I'm an over the road truck driver & work in all types of weather conditions. have snagged it on sharp metal many times & still has no rips or holes. this jacket is tough I assure you. I'm back ordering another one only for the new feel and comfort. if you work outdoors this jacket is the one for you. in cold weather its like you're wearing a blanket. quality product, highly recommend.

Killer jacket!
I am very impressed with my new J140 jacket. The fit is great (I am 6'2 & 235 pounds and went with an XL tall) and the build quality is second to none. I have owned many different Carhartt products over the years and this is quickly going to the top of the list.

Well done Carhartt on manufacturing the model in the USA again!!

A Superb Winter Coat
I bought 1 of these last winter and they are GREAT. Heavy duty, warm, and of course Rugged. Well made jacket/coat for your typical snowy cold weather. Zipper is tuff and well made to. I luved it so much my co-workers and I got one for my boss for Christmas. I recommend it 100%. Thanks.

5+ years
Best coat I have ever owned! I bought this coat 5 years ago and it's still going strong. Has been through several cold winters and much abuse on the farm. I am very proud to own a coat that is made in the USA and I hope they continue to be made here for a very long time.

Disapointing
I've had several carhartt coats coveralls & jeans
The quality of this is far below what I was used to.
After a month and a trip through the washer one of the grommets for the drawstring is falling off the fabric around the sleeve is fraying.
Also the cut seems way more generous around the waist than my old one, the cold air comes right in. Have pics but couldnt post

Blaze orange at last.
Warm, windproof, durable, high quality materials and workmanship. The fit is sized for active work and layering. The blaze orange color I have wanted for being out back during the hunting season and when I am out snow plowing. Best of all it is Made in USA.

They call it a Jacket....but it's much more than a Jacket
I was raised in Michigan and I know of the cold. They call this a Jacket but it is more like a well insulated Coat. I can go out in the worst of weather, Cold, Snow, Sleet, Rain, Wind and if needed I pull up the Attached Hood. I am never cold wearing this and at times it is too warm. I have just ordered Carhartt Bib overalls to match my winter look and to stay toasty warm. There is no way on earth you can go wrong with this......Buy these, Stay Warm. One thing....they are new and a bit stiff.....so run them through the washer/dryer a couple times to soften it up a bit.

Warm jacket well constructed
I live in Las Vegas but frequently visit family in Michigan during winter. I have absolutely no tolerance for cold. One year I arrived and my nephew said you are going to freeze to death. He went home and brought me this jacket to borrow. I finally got my own today. It is very windy (55 mph winds and 52 degrees - yes its a dry cold too). First time all day not shivering. Nice that I now go out comfortably when it's cold. Happy it's made in the ????.

Totally worth it
This was my first Carhartt jacket I bought a couple days ago. I was a little unsure at first, cause I saw the price and it was just a jacket, but my friends wear Carhartt and they tell me its warm and comfortable. I used to wear 3 jackets at once, cause its very cold here in Michigan. so I was tired of wearing 3 coats so I gave it a shot and bought it. And like my friends told me its warm and comfortable, and it is. I'm totally satisfied of this jacket its amazing I do not regret buying it, and now I'm sticking with Carhartt.

Still the same Carhartt, and that's a good thing
I bought this jacket a year ago to replace a 10 year old Detroit jacket which I also really enjoyed, carhartt still makes extremely high quality clothes at very reasonable prices. Living in Buffalo NY and spending a lot of time outside makes you appreciate good cold weather clothing, and like all of my other carhartt clothes this coat requires a bit of a break in period but now that I've had it for a year it fits perfect, keeps me warm and it looks nice enough for my wife to let me wear it to church on Sunday I highly recommend this jacket

Fits smaller that older jackets of same size
I purchased the tall version of this jacket. I had an older Carhartt Jacket that was the same size but not in tall. The arms are better in the tall version but the waist is actually shorter that the non tall jacket. If you do the arm to the sky test it becomes a belly shirt which I was hoping to avoid by getting the tall version. Typical Carhartt otherwise.

Orange is my color
I was in need of a winter jacket for work. Being a welder this jacket like all the carhartt pants I own is very durable and stands up to my job when other clothes fail. Being from and in California I'm a SF giants fan and this jacket with its limited color scene is perfect to show my support while at work. Also last but not least I really like that this jacket is made in the USA, I hope that carhartt brings all production back home!!!

Perfect Jacket for Outside Winter Work
I am an mechanic, and I often do road side service in the winter. I wear this jacket over my insulated bib overalls. I also wear it when riding my quad. This is my second one, only because my first one became too big after I lost a lot of weight. My current one is about 2 years old now. The one previous to that was probably close to 6 years old, but didn't look like it.
When you first buy the jacket, it's very stiff. But, if you wash it once, maybe twice, and actually wear it, it breaks in perfectly, and is well worth the break in period.
It's fully insulated, but the sleeves are nylon inside, which I actually prefer (Doesn't stick to my shirt sleeves). It's extremely warm, under all winter conditions. I've worn it in below 0 weather with just a t-shirt underneath, and I'm never cold.
The pockets on the front are great. Perfect position for warming cold hands, and I've never had anything fall out of them, even though they don't zipper or button close. The inner pockets are great for anything that needs to stay dry and secure.
Water resistance is second to none for not being water proof. Light rain beads off, light snow beads of. Heavy rain and snow will soak through the duck material, but it's never made the jacket less warm. What's surprising is after a rough night of heavy snow fall, when I came home and took off the jacket, I didn't even realize just how wet the outside was. It never reached my t-shirt under it, and I never even knew.
My jacket did have one hole apear, which I promptly repaired with a heavy duty canvas. I don't know how it tore and I don't know when. The hole was about the size of the tip of my pinky, but after repairing with the canvas, I've never had another hole. I've actually never seen any of my buddies Carhartt jackets tear either. None of them could believe mine even had a hole!
Would also like to add, My German Shepard and I have played tug of war with the arm of my jacket while I'm wearing it, and it doesn't even look like a big boy like him ever chewed on it.
I'm a firm believer in Carhartt and I'll never buy any other jacket. There's just nothing out there that even compares. Spend the money once and never spend it again.

Best coat worth every pennie
Fits really good my shirts size is XL but this coat is large and fits really good and still have space in the coat I bought another coat with carhartt and got that size xl because that’s what my shirt size is and that’s what the fitment guide said but it was Big so I went size down and it fits perfect

one washing for the J140
I liked it before it got washed but, after being washed by the girlfriend it seems to not be the same. the bottom cuff had loosened letting cold air in around the waist and shrunk in a way that caused the zipper to bunch up. the hood feels as if that also shrunk and over comfort is not the same with hands in the external pockets it puts pressure on to the back of the neck and nothing on the shoulders kind of give a hunch back kind of feel.

wish she never washed it after it being one year old jacket

I would have waited to wash it for a few more years(3-10 years) or mainly if excrement of something ended up on or in it.

this jacket should really be dry cleaned or washed in cold delicates and hung dry do to NO pre shrinking of fabrics before production from Carhartt.

I love the B01 pants are great for work plus padding can be added for the knees. the 100615 Hooded Sweatshirt is nice and warm for fall and the added pocket for cellphone or something is great. the K87 and K126 shirts feel good. got the J97 from one of the jobs I had with my name on it and hoping the J162 is as good as it sounds. I like how well Carhartt holds up but, anyone who wears as much or more of Carhartt knows what sizes fit best after being washed for more of a true fit. so I know there isn't a lot of tweaking that can be done with out a personal tailor. so for that, Carhartt is a solid 80%- 90% great gear over most brands in stores for the working blue caller.

One of the Best Jackets for the price, Warmth, and Pockets, and style.
I own the brown version. I absolutely love this jacket. I wear it to work. The weather right now is about 35 degrees outside during the winter it keeps me warm absolutely no problems. Nice sturdy zipper, very durable jacket no tears , loose fibers, or scuffs. I also wear it outside of work. When I go to the store, bank, or run errands. This jacket is very comfortable sometimes I catch myself wearing it inside watching tv. I purchased the black version today and I’m wearing it in bed while typing this review! It has a zipper pocket on the right inside great for your wallet or car keys . It also has a Velcro pocket on the left inside great for a carhartt beanie overall I love this jacket and will be buying a third.

Great jacket for cold winters
Probably the best jacket I’ve ever owned. Living here in Buffalo, the winters are famously cold. This jacket does a great job of standing up to it. I’m never cold anywhere where it covers. My only complaint at all is that the bottom can ride up which becomes pretty noticeable in high wind.

Carhartt quality at a great price
The build quality on this is what I expect of a product to have the Carhartt name on it . The zipper is large and heavy duty. The stitching is excellent. It's heavy duty, but still easy to move in and not stiff. It is very warm especially when working, but even if you're just outdoors enjoying a game in the winter it's plenty warm enough with a sweatshirt or hoodie under it. It does run slightly big in the length of the arms but I have shorter arms so maybe that's why. I have the black color and it looks great. Overall I love this jacket and will be buying another. I'm always amazed at the quality you get for the price of Carhartt products. This is the jacket that my family has worn for years and I highly recommend it!

This jacket saved my arm!
I love this jacket for many reasons such as comfort and durability, I was recently in a motorcycle accident that caused me to lay my bike down before It was too late, I landed and slid on my left side for maybe a few feet, I was lucky to come out with only a few scratches, the jacket was unscathed! If I didn't have this jacket on at the time of my accident I don't want to think about what could have happened to my arm! Carhartt has unmatched quality and workmanship in all of their products and you can bet your bottom dollar I'll never leave home without it! Thanks again Carhartt, you saved my skin (litteraly).

Great Coat
Bought this coat because it had a hood. My other Carhartt coat didn't have one. I did a lot of research and this one seemed the best for the money. Turned out to be a great buy. Fits just a little small but not that much. If you looking for a coat with a hood that will keep you warm during those cold days this is the one. I am very happy with it. I see it out wearing me.

Tall and skinny
I'm 6'3", 185lbs, lean build. I've struggled with finding the right size in most clothing, always floating between L and XL to get the right length, Ls usually run short and XLs are my desired length but is too big elsewhere. A got a size L and it fits PERFECT. I'm a ride or die Carhartt fan for the long haul now.

Fantastic !!! Best Jacket Ever !!!
Bought this Jacket about a year ago to replace one I had worn for 3 years that was still going strong when I gave it to a friend . This jacket is my favorite go to jacket I'm 6'1 225 and I bought a size Large and it fits perfectly. I farm and work at a steel factory and this is jacket always keep me warm even on the coldest days in northern Ohio.
I also appreciate that's it's made in the U.S.A and sponsored by Helmets to hardhats supporting the troops that come home to get good jobs .

great clothes need one more thing
over the past 20 yrs I have had 5 carhartt coats. they all wore out on sleeves next to the cuffs . this happens because tour arms rub on your coat as you move . they need short piece of tough nylon just abouve the cuff.
BEST WORK CLOTHES I HAVE EVER HAD.

Surviving Chicago Winter

Good Ole' Carhartt
I got this exact same jacket for the winter of 2014, and four years later it remains my favorite coat for the cold months here in Michigan. It is strong and durable, and still looks like I got it yesterday. I have worn it over gym shorts and a t-shirt when it was -20 degrees outside and it kept me toasty. Definitely get yourself one if you work outside in the colder months a lot. You won't regret it!

Great, durable, warm jacket. Great bang for your buck
I bought this jacket about 4 years ago when I joined the forest service for a summer and fall season and it was perfect. It was warm, held up in the rain well, and blocked the wind very well. I still have it and it's still a great jacket. Runs a little large but you want that when you want warmth and wind protection

Best cold weather jacket
I've had this jacket for about 3 years now and it's seen use on the farm and in my job as a concrete pump operator. We're out in pretty much any conditions, it seems. I'm known by my buddies to be extremely hard on most of my clothes and gear.

This jacket has held up very well in rain, snow, cold, and my least favorite- wind. On days when the wind is blowing 30 mph and the wind chill is a bitter cold, I know I'll be warm with this jacket and a Carhartt hoodie underneath.

I've convinced a few of my buddies these were worth the money just by letting them try it out for 10 or 15 minutes on cold days. When this one wears out, I'll buy the exact same one without thinking twice.

Runs short
Very good quality jacket, its warm and has plenty of room through the shoulders and chest, however, this jacket is SHORT. Its made to ride right at your waist line, so if you're a taller person, it will be short on you, you'll want to go with the Tall size.

I love my carhartt!
This is not my first Flannel-lined Carhartt jacket. It's a cold winter with sub freezing temperatures and this jacket is doing the job it says it will do, which is keeping me warm. I ordered a size down and it fits me well. I am 5'10" and weigh 220lbs. and i purchased a large.

Duck Quilted Flannel Lined Active Jac
This Jacket fits perfectly. It is a wonderful great product. Is warm, comfortable. One of the best jackets I have ever owned. I love all of the Carhartt clothing that I have. I am retired from the railroad, & carhartt clothing are really warm when working out side in the cold. Thank You for such wonderful quality clothes.

Best of the Best
I ordered this jacket and some Bib Coveralls a little on the big side to go over work clothes and to stand up to a Wyoming winter, I got exactly what I wished for. I'm waiting for the first 50 below day to use these products properly, but Carhartt is the best of the best, I have never had any problems with my un-hooded Carhartt jacket, I've had for 5 years.

Regular medium sleeves were a little too short for me so I went with the tall. It is a very nice and high quality jacket. It may be a little long for my torso, but it will be good for a long time. Super comfortable hood

Fantastic product that stands the elements and the test of time!
I've had this jacket (J140 in black) for about 8 years now. It's been with me when I worked on the railroad, went hunting, and to hell and back. It's still holding up perfectly - my default go-to and my favorite jacket hand down. This is a real quality product and worth every single penny.

Ancient and Indestructible
I have my grandfather's J140 that he was issued by the construction company he worked for some time in the '60s or '70s. I wear it today (it's free), and it works great, there are no rips or tears anywhere, just a few old white paint stains on the upper part of the left sleeve (it's dark/navy blue). No matter what your job is, I believe that this jacket is an investment worth making simply because you are human.

love the color
I bought this jacket for my husband. He already has the same style in charcoal and it is his favorite jacket. He is rough on his clothes, he works in the woods on his days off (paper mill machine operator). These jackets seem to really hold up to his abuse. Now the orange color couldn't be better. He doesn't hunt but we all have to wear orange, even the dogs, in the fall. Thanks Carhartt.

The only thing this jacket wont do is your work!
I am not a "workin' man." No, I do not bring down 50 foot trees, weld, or tend to a farmful of critters on a daily basis. Once I put on this jacket, however, that all changes. I can smell the crisp mountain air, hear the roar of equipment, and feel the Earth tremble below my feet from jackhammers; Muscles bulge, and my facial hair extends to lumberjack levels. Yes, this jacket is your brown ticket into the hard working American society.

I think it was Napoleon that said of his first Carhartt (which is still around after a few hundred years), "Take care of this jacket and it shall take care of you." Like Napoleon, I am not a very big person at 5'6" and around 145lbs. A size small provides the fit I like. I will note that I tried on a medium and the elastic around the wasit did not hug tightly to my body, so I naturally had to go down a size. It is not too baggy, but has just enough room inside to wear some layers without feeling restricted.

This is my first Carhartt jacket, and I look forward to the hundreds of years of comfort and durability it will offer.

I really like this jacket for cold nights on the forklift. Quality is great superior insulation. I am quite happy. Would be better if there wasn't elastic on the bottom and a straight edge instead but I knew what I was getting.

Honest Review
Carhartt is always coming out with new products and constantly revising old ones. This jacket is perfect for not only adults, but especially college student. This jacket is going to be very appealing to those who are spending a lot of time outside. Many of these activities could fall under either working, traveling, recreational, etc. Of course, us college students participate in almost most of these activities so this jacket is perfect for us. Living in Iowa, this jacket holds up in some of the coldest temperatures you’ll experience in the U.S.

There are many features that make this a great jacket for yourself including its durability, insulation, affordability, and variety.


Durability:

You’ll instantly notice with this jacket that there is not much that’s going to wear and tear the outside of it. Although it’s still possibly to tear through, considering mine has been through five years of snowmobiling, ice fishing, hunting and has one tear to its name speaks a lot to the great durability this coat offers.


Insulation:

We all know how terrible it is walking into the wind on a cold winter morning. Luckily this jacket fights against that wind very well, and the insulation will keep you warm for long periods at a time. It may not be the lightest jacket on the market, but I think we can agree that adding some extra weight is worth the warmth. Even if you are a naturally cold person you can size up and have plenty of room to layer up beneath it.


Affordability and Variety:

All of these features and being under $100 is a steal nowadays. Even us college students can scrape up enough money for one of these, and the great thing is its going to be effective, long-lasting, and stylish. This jacket comes in a variety of colors and fits, so you’ll be able to find the perfect one for you.

All in all, this coat will be great all year around, especially in the winter season. If you get this coat, if should serve you well. If not, good luck on hunting down that perfect coat for the season, cause we all know how important it is.

4x tall - Perfect for tall guys 300lb+, roomy without being too wide.
4x tall is perfect size for my 6'3" 350lb 3x hubby.
It's as long as they come, without getting too wide. It affords plenty of space for layering, but is plenty warm by itself. I'm very pleased with the fit. He loves it and this jacket will be around for quite some time!

Bought this for my husband when he switched to an outside only job. He loves it and it's keeping him very warm thus far. It was a bit stiff to begin with (the hood was standing on its own) but after multiple days on the job it broke in. The only con that I would give it, is that I bought it in the tall size and it is just barely long enough. The next size up in a tall or regular and he was swimming in it. If you have any doubts about if the regular length is long enough then get the tall just to be safe. Overall, another quality piece from Carhartt. Keep up the good work!

Very Low Quality Product
I was given this jacket brand new from my employer for work in the Alaskan winters. It was purchased in size large but it is definitely not a large it is closer to an XXL or bigger. The outer shell is very stiff and coarse. The lining is extremely rough against the skin and it doesn't seem to have any insulation. It is very uncomfortable to have on. I will definitely be buying my own coat and it will most likely not be a Carhartt after seeing this junk gear.

love this jacket
i love this jacket. i own this and the sherpa lined heavyweight jacket. both are great jackets. this one will give better dexterity than the other. its much more pliable type of material, easier to move around in. only complaint i would give is that if you work overhead alot the waistband will pull up and not want to go back down. the sherpa doesnt do that. but it better be really cold outside if you want to wear the sherpa ,if you are really working, you will burn up in that jacket.!! i prefer this jacket to the sherpa as the sherpa is very stiff. does loosen up over time but would never be this comfortable to wear. cant go wrong with carhartt.

A staple item for cold climates
Have used this long enough now to give truly honest feedback. Here’s the verdict. If you live in a cold climate and want and easy jacket for everyday and everything, than this is the jacket for you. It’s warm! I’m talking middle of a sub-zero night in snow covered NH taking out the dogs in pajama pants, slippers, no shirt, but with this jacket on...toasty warm. I use if for work, chores, running errands, and everything in between. When the weather gets cold, this is what I grab. It’s easy on and off, repels snow and rain pretty well, and it’s durable. I mean it! Last winter I wore it everyday while felling trees in Massachusetts and this thing is in incredible shape. Cuffs are still snug at the waist and wrists. Zipper seems rock solid still. Now I’ll grant you, the hood is incredibly stiff when new, and getting it to lay down can be a little frustrating until you get used to it. The performance of the hood when needed, far outweighs the break in period though. The jacket is exactly what you need in terms of pockets and functionality. It has everything you need and nothing you don’t. Simply put, this is a Carhartt classic! A staple item for cold climates.

Best Warm Jacket for your Bucks
I have 2 of these, in different colors. I've been wearing my first for 8 years. It's kept me warm in pouring rain, sleet, and 18 degrees. I never leave to go to a different jobsite without it. I actually have one in woodland camouflage. The BEST jackets I've ever bought. Would highly recommend

I found the coat I was looking for in a size, I thought, was right (3XLT). However, your on line chart did not provide sleeve lengths. Since I am tall with long arms, I wasn’t sure if what I had chosen would fit.

I did place the order for a 3XLT.

I looked at the comments for this product, none made statements regarding sleeve length. I was trending toward (4XLT)

With afterthought, I opened a chat with one of your staff. She was very patient and helpful. We discussed my sizing concerns. She could not change or cancel the order. I worried about this.

The coat arrived very quickly. Thank you.

I tried it on and found it did fit on the large side and the sleeve length was great. Now relieved I did not alter my original order.

What remains is whether the coat will keep me warm through the winter ahead.

Tried & True.
This particular jacket is near & dear to me & my family. For as long as I can remember it seemed my father bought me one every year, in September right before school. It was always special, I’d get this, a matching hat & a pair of boots. One year he even bought me a knife. I never liked the design of this particular jacket but I will say I never went cold. I didn’t appreciate it back then, but as a man I remain loyal to Carhartt for all my outerwear needs.

The best coat of my 50 plus years.
Love this coat. I bought this jacket to replace one that was given to me over 10 years ago. It was in perfect condition after all these years. It is awesome in the winter. It's the best coat I have ever owned. The only reason I got a new one is because I lost over 150lbs and went from a snug 3x to a medium and I love the red color. It is firm in the beginning but after wearing it for a while it does get much more pliable. They also run big so buy a size down from your regular size. Do yourself a favor and buy this coat.

Sized right, and for the right job, this jacket is phenomenal
This is one of the first Carhartt products I've owned and so far it's great. The water repellency is noticeable and the jacket by itself is warm but not too hot. That being said, thanks to the fit and cut of the jacket I could always wear a hoodie under it to adapt to actually cold climates (aka not just some early morning Seattle rain).

P.S. Pay close attention to the sizing, I was on the upper end of a small and I decided to go with a small as some of the reviews described the jacket as loose and big, but I wish I'd gotten a medium for a longer coat.

It's a good jacket, kinda puffy.

This is the second one of these I've had. And if i can I will never want another kind. The first one went thru the life of a farmer and tho the cuffs and the front wore out the zipper never gave out. A repeat owner.
Fits well,very warm.I already owned an identical jacket, wore it for years. That jacket is still useable but I wanted a new shiney one for running into town. I would absolutely recommend this jacket for an active worker, or just for casual wear.

A Good Buy
I wanted something with high visibility and a tough fabric. This fits both of those bills.

As to size, I wear tall Carhartt vests (I'm 5'11"+, 165 lbs) this item is a just a little long sleeved for me, but provides plenty of room for additional garments underneath.

Workmanship and quality overall are excellent. I like the interior pockets. I do wish that the exterior pockets were lined.

The garment is a bit stiff. That is to be expected given the fabric.

I'd buy again. Full disclosure, it may well outlive me!

Great Rugged Jacket
This is a great jacket and it fits good. I like how it is rugged enough to work in and it is thick enough to stay warm in cold weather. This jacket has a nice appearance too and I would recommend it to anyone.

Amazing Service
My wife ordered a Carhartt jacket with quilted lining for me and it arrived 2 days later. The quality is exceptional. I highly recommend this jacket. It's incredibly warm and extremely durable. My last Carhartt jacket lasted about 4 years - I used it every day from Fall to Spring. Carhartt's service is truly amazing!

Best Coat Ever!!!
I live in Oregon...lots of rain and cold...I am 50 and have done construction a good part of my life. This is the best coat I have ever owned. Roomy, high quality, can't say enough great things about it. I hope you make them for many years to come, so I can buy another one when the times come.

Starched outer surface?
I wear a 3XLT. I put the jacket on when I received it and it was terribly uncomfortable as the outer surface was as if it were heavily starched. The hood practically stood straight up. It is going back; very disappointed.

not that warm or comfortable but durable
this jacket is not that warm. i'm glad its made in the USA that's why i bought it. but honestly its too stiff to be comfortable and the lining is not very warm. I own other carhartt that i like. I dont like this one. Carhartt should have made the flannel lining two and a half times thicker and made the outer shell half as thick.They should have also lined the pockets. Also why just this jacket made in the USA? im very disappointed in this jacket.

Light yet very warm and comfortable
Arrived quicly. Very comfortable yet extremely durable. I can wear when chilly and stay warm but not uncomfortable. I also wear when freezing damp and windy and I was completely protected from the elements.

A wait well worth it
My husband was very upset when you discontinued the blaze orange. So when
I was on your website looking up the artic bibs for my son. I had to get the jacket and bibs. Then to top it off, I ordered the bibs wrong. So I reordered the correct size. My son was excited, because the incorrect size I ordered fit him. So he now has a pair of Blaze orange bibs as well. I will order him the jacket to have on hand for a present for him.

My Brother Loves This Jacket!

Best Gift Ever
I got this jacket for Christmas and I have worn it almost every day since then. I own a horse for so I am constantly in and out of buildings and driving heavy machinery in some of the worst cold I have ever experienced. This jacket has been a life-saver and you can barely tell that I have worn it!

My poor old coat
The other day I got my good old trusty Carhartt coat out for the winter. "Man this thing is looking ragged." I thought to myself. It's in perfect shape --- except for around the cuffs, where threads are hanging and the fabric is worn through. I got to thinking about all that this coat and I have been through together... communications tower construction, countless rooftops installing wireless internet, the list goes on. THEN it occured to me that this coat is entering it's SEVENTH year!!! SEVEN years of wear and tear, and I'm whining about the cuffs being a bit threadbare. I think that I'll purchase a brand new one for myself for Christmas --- for a dress coat!

Great Jacket for the winter weather
I bought this jacket for a 16 year old high school student. He needed a good solid warm winter jacket that he could carry around with him during the day but have it look and act just as good after the sun had set. He's been wearing it as his only jacket since he got it.

He's a big young man so I bought a 3x and special ordered it over the Internet. Our local Western store sold the same jacket up to size 2x, and he would have taken it that night. But, I told him to wait because he still needed a bigger size to grow into. I'm glad I did. He fills out the 3x comfortably and has room to store his Carhartt watch cap and shove his hands into the pockets! And, with the hood - it stands up and gives more protection than a regular hoodie sweatshirt that the kids love nowadays.

He told me yesterday he washed it in a washing machine instead of dry cleaning it and some of the outer duck color has faded, but it still fits him and looks great. This is a great jacket and it withstands the abuse that a teenager can give it!

Good job - Carhartt!

Best and most durable jacket I have ever bought!
If you are looking for a jacket thats warm and durable don't overlook this one. I bought this jacket to wear while commuting to work on my motorcycle, and through my years of riding I had not found a jacket that cuts the wind like this one does. With this jacket and a sweatshirt underneath I could hardly feel the wind penetrating through, and if you have ever ridden a motorcycle in cold weather you know that money cant buy a jacket that don't have a little wind penetration. And how's this for durability? After two weeks of wearing my jacket I wrecked my motorcycle. I slid down the paved asphault approx. 100 ft. sustaining extensive injuries to my legs, but my upper body was protected thanks to my Carhartt jacket being to big to fit in my saddle bags for the ride home that evening. The asphault wore only one hole in the outter layer of the jacket, but the insulation and inner lining saved me. After seeing my shredded pants I could not believe my jacket was still in one piece. I hope to purchase another one as soon as I am able. I would definitly recommend this jacket to anyone.

super heavy duty hoodie
This is a great jacket for when you want that comfort of a hoodie but it is a little too cold to wear a normal hoodie. It seemlessly combines the comfort of hoodie with the warmth of a jacket. This is a great jacket for those cool fall nights spent outside around a fire.

Love my Jacket
I purchased a Duck Quilted Flannel-Lined Active Jacket Style #J140 in Navy Blue.

I had been wanting to buy this jacket for years. I had seen some people around wearing them but I never knew the brand. This my first CarHartt jacket and I love it is wind resistant and water proof. It is warm and comfy on windy days. The only thing that could be improved is the zipper. It is a little hard zip up. Other then that I would recommend this to everyone.

Not what they used to be
I purchased this coat 2 years ago to replace the one I had from 1996 that just got holes from battery acid. I am extremely disappointed that my new coat is already showing wear in the cuffs and the lining is already ripping. I even sought out a coat that was made in USA when I purchased the replacement and I am just all around disappointed. I suggest that Carhartt go back to making durable high quality clothes and focus less on all of the new styles.

Had mine for 12 years
I have had my jacket for 12 years and it is now pretty ratchet. I swear by this jacket though, I walked up to 10 miles a day in sometimes sub-zero weather and this jacket has been amazing. It just now has started showing signs of serious damage (fraying, the zipper pull is gone, it's faded from salt, sun and being washed) but I am now looking for a second jacket. Totally worth your money!!

I love my carhartt and it is the most comfortable jacket i own, but I just bought this new j140. I havent even had the coat for a month yet. After the 3rd wash my jacket came out with a hole near the elbow and starting to tear on the front pocket. I expected so much more from a carhartt jacket especially when i still have 2 other carhartts that are several years old and with no rips or tears and they are both made in mexico. This makes me second guess buying another carhartt in the future.

Very uncomfortable coat
This is by far the worst Winter coat I have ever worn.

Upon getting it I washed it twice, as it was very stiff. Maybe I had grown too accustomed to "fire hose" jackets. Washing didn't make a difference. A month later I still feel like the little brother in A Christmas Story. It's bulky and just doesn't seem to fit right, or "move" with me. Not the size, that was spot on, but the cut and thickness of the coat, plus the overall stiffness of it had me ordering another coat within the month.

This would be the perfect jacket for ice fishing. Or perhaps sitting outside in the Winter watching a football game. If your work has you moving around, this is not the jacket for you. It will wear you out.

Also, as already mentioned by others, the hood just isn't cut right. I've had the wind blow it up onto my head on its own. And it's always in the way when I turn my head while snow blowing (tractor/rear blower). It's like wearing blinders. I can't seem to tighten the drawstring and have it rest halfway back on my head like the fire hose coat I had. To tell the truth though, the lighter Winter coat from Carhartt I just received has a wonky hood, too. It's a lot more comfortable than this jacket though. Maybe Carhartt doesn't think people turn their heads while wearing hoods. Or maybe I need a hard hat under it to eat up room.

Pros:
It's very warm
The sizing is spot on (large/tall)
The price is incredible. I can't believe it was only a hundred bucks.

Cons:
It's heavy
It soaks up melting snow and gets heavier
The hood is useless unless facing forward
No outside breast pocket (where I always keep my cordless or cell)
It's very bulky to the point you can't wait to take it off.

Luckily, aside from the hood, my new Carhartt jacket can take the place of this one. This should be rated for Arctic conditions for as bulky as it is, but because it's not water resistant is probably why it's not.

Love all the pockets, the removable hood, overall style is warm, durable, movable and stylish. I wanted a black coat, but really like the grey color. I like that you can cinch it up around the waist.

Disappointed
I tried on multiple Carhartt jackets like this one so that I knew what size to order. I ordered a large (what seemed to fit best). However, when I receive it and tried it on, it was too big. I was practically swimming in it. I was rather disappointed since I had tried on a coat exactly like this in the same size, yet when I got mine it did not fit.

Excellent Jacket
This jacket is exactly what i needed working outside in the extreme desert conditions. It was exactly what I expected and well worth the dollars spent, I work in the parks dept. and working around water in the winter is no joke. The county I work for does not provide good jackets for winter conditions but do except this type of jacket in certain colors. I bought this jacket for my husband for work. He leaves really early and usually it’s very cold out, I wanted him to have something he could wear that would keep him warm. This was perfect! Only down side was that it runs very big. He’s usually an xl and this was way to big. It’ was actually funny to see him in it being so big on him. We’ve returned it and now waiting for the refund to get the correct size. I also got him the socks and beanie and he loves it all!

Overall great jacket warm durable great quality
Overall I really like three jacket the only complaints I have are the length and the width of the sleeves I got a 2X tall because I didn't want it to ride up so much the body fit is damn near perfect but I could fit 2 of my arms in each sleeve there's to much room bulkier then I hoped and secondly the main zipper is kind of hard to get up once it's on so I usually keep it zipped up and pull it over my head less hassle i'm not trying to complain a lot I love the jacket and I know it'll keep me warm I have no doubts about it

Great Universal Coat
LOVE this coat. This thing can stand up to almost anything -- water, heat, cold. Perfect outdoor work jacket.

Only downside is that it run a little big.

The hardest working jacket I have ever owned
In the winter season being a window installer is rough, with the cool breeze blowing against you it was a struggle to find a jacket that kept me warm without the bulk that was also durable. This Carhartt jacket is exactly that. Warm and Durable. I have had mine for 5 years and aside from caulking on the sleeve you wouldn’t be able to tell.

Good outdoor working jacket
I have had 3 of these jackets now. They last me about a year to a year and a half. I do construction work and carry multiple items a lot so the front of the jacket takes a lot of abuse. The first jacket lasted longer than the second jacket but I wore out the forearms on it besides wearing the front pockets right off as well. It fits great and the elastic wrists and beltline keep the cold out. Haven't found a better combination in a jacket that lasts longer than this one has for me.

I bought this for myself and my boyfriend
I was wondering if this would be too bulky for a girl to look good wearing but I like a larger fit anyway and am used to wearing mens clothes. I am pretty small and for a girl (6'5" 125 lbs) but I thought the mens size small is like ordering womens sized medium it is pretty big so if you are a size extra extra small you might not like the bulkiness of it, but it is definitely a true mens small because it is the perfect size for my boyfriend, who sometimes orders mediums for a comfortable fit but there is no need with this jacket, as it is true small. I love it, it's comfy and is very warm you wont feel anything with a light sweatshirt underneath. The hood is a bit stiff and could be extended longer out in the front but that is just my honest opinion. Mine was black and my boyfriend ordered the navy blue, excited to see the quality of other products in the near future.

My Third One
I've had three of these over the past 20 years and never been disappointed. They wear well, fit great, and keep me warm. I've got long arms so I always get the tall option. I also like the dark colors because it doesn't show dirt or stains as much. Thanks for continuing to make an excellent product!

Best ag major jacket
This jacket is truly wonderful. I am constantly at different farms working with different species as an animal science major and this jackets comfort, ability to be machein washed and warmth is in like anything out there! I have always had and always will have carheart jackets.

My son moved to college and needed a thicker coat. Carhartt was my first thought. I got him a medium so there would be plenty of room for layers underneath and it fits perfectly. The outer layer is a little stiff but I am sure it will relax the more he wears it. He is happy with it.

Great, but maybe order a size down
I have just bought this coat and have only worked in it once, and besides a minor size issue, it's incredible! I work in a 0°F freezer and it kept me warm and cozy the whole time. I'm usually a size medium, so I got a medium and its a bit bigger than I thought it'd be, but it's still very comfortable.

American Made
I have 2 J140 already. Bought them both in 2006. One was to work in, the other was to keep clean and wear normal in cold weather. Both continue to serve well in those roles. I’ve added a few more styles to them over the years because one thing I know for sure, they are a long term purchase that keep on going. My 12 year old daughter wanted the J140 just like mine. We went and got her one recently also. Men’s small is what she wanted. I couldn’t resist a new J140 in another color. The quality and workmanship haven’t changed. Still tough and strong. I also wanted to support the Made in America this jacket continues to serve hard working Americans. Thumbs up to the heritage of Carhartt.

Seeing The Name "Carhartt" Assures You This Jacket is Reliable
My wife purchased me this jacket as a gift a few years back and after that I was hooked on Carhartt! I just bought me a second jacket and just like the first one it holds up amazingly. Great Jacket for Tall Guys
This is a great work jacket, looks to be very durable. Build quality looks awesome. I'm 6'5" and weigh in at 220lbs, the Large Tall fits well for my light duties. The only thing I'd like improved is the hood size, it seems a bit short in depth but still keeps me warm. Seems a bit stiff but this should improve with use. Great jacket overall.

Love this jacket. Try to wear this one out in 40 years!!
I was looking to replace a jacket I had for almost 40 years.I replaced the broken zipper after about 20 years, then it finally just wore out.I liked the bright red color and havent seen anyone with that color, so I had to get another one.

This is my 2nd exact jacket. The 1st jacket was excellent. That jacket had fraying on the sleeves end, not the wrist area. The zipper "handle" that zips up the jacket came off. Overall, I'll continue to wear only Carhartt!

Great, tough, jacket for work or casual wear.
Excellent fit, I bought a large tall size. I usually have problems finding a coat with a long enough torso that I’m not swimming in but this one does it. My only gripe is that I wish the hood was more roomier.

Amazing heavy duty coat

Great Jacket
I bought one of these in black and I am loving it. I have tested it out on really windy days where the snow is also going strong, and I have found it to be quite warm. The only place I felt any wind was where the zipper was but honestly. it wasn't all that bad. Overall I really like it.

These are great classic jackets. This is much warmer than an older one I had with the scratchy, thermal, long john material. It's comfortable but does ride up some when reaching away from the body.

Perfect everyday coat
I got this jacket to use as an everyday coat during the winter. It's perfect I can wear it when I take the dog to the beach or park with the wind whipping. I can wear it to run to the home improvement store and not have to worry about getting it dirty or damaged. Or i can simply just wear it out to go shopping with the wife. Warm and Comfortable exactly what i wanted.

Weird Fit
Normally im a medium in clothes but in Carhartt im a small with extra space left over. The jacket lives true to wind resistant and water repellant. Only issue is that the arms fit normal but the jacket length is way too short. With any movement the jacket rides up even more and pulls my phone holster off my belt. It feels like a crop top for men.

My go-to jacket
I love this jacket!!! I like being warm but being in the SW we don't see too many 'cold' days but when it is, this is the jacket I grab. I originally bought it when I was in WA state for five years and wore it all the time. I've now had that jacket 12 years now and got it one size too big so I could wear a hoodie with it in 2005. Now I don't need the hoodie so I'm now looking to get a true size that fits but in a different color. I will always have one of these!!!

love it
i own two of these in different colors. started with a camo jacket figured that id destroy it in a season and move on to another. i was definitely wrong, between the warmth of the jacket and its durability i had to buy another for every day. that first jacket survived 5 different hunting seasons. in hash temps. and harsher environments, absolutely love it.

I now own two of these jackets one in the sandstone brown and one in camo. both are durable and very warm. the camo jacket has so far survived 5 different hunting seasons through some pretty tough climates and even harsher environments. overall love it, would definitely recommend

long lasting
i work on heavy equipment outside all YEAR ROUND. this coat gets me thru some brutal cold! ive had it for 5 years and its still going strong. the lower arms / cuffs are a little torn up, but that's my fault for shoving my arm thru / around equipment while working on it. you will NOT be disappointed!

Well made and very durable.
My son really likes the jacket, it's very warm and it keeps him dry. Since he spends the majority of his work day outside the jacket has proven to be invaluable. The only minor drawback is that it's a little stiff feeling on the arms when he drives.

Warm ... fit is relaxed and comfortable. Does run big -- I usually wear a 2XL/Tall but it was too big and had to exchange for an XL/Tall which fits great. Enough room if I want to wear a vest underneath. Am very pleased with it.

This jacket is the least expensive jacket you will find.

Very pleased
This jacket is well worth the price. It is heavy weight and solidly constructed, but with enough room to layer if necessary. The American-built version feels substantially better built than the Mexican version. They seem to run a bit big, I am 5'10 180 and a medium is still a bit roomy on me. However, I love it and am glad to support American workers.

Merry Christmas to my right hand man

Quality, very durable. Warm, quilted inside is comfortable. Inside pockets are good, with one zippered and one velcro. Outside pockets could be slightly deeper and the hood could be extended back to front for better weather protection. .Very satisfied with purchase, a great work jacket for the cold weather.

My husband's job requires that he work out in the cold sometimes, and he won't wear anything BUT a Carhartt jacket like this one! The flannel lining is really warm and the outer fabric is really tough for outside working conditions.

Tough Jacket
Comfortable / Warm / Tough Jacket. It is kinda heavy but am getting used to it. A suggestion for Carhart would be to put string clamps on the hood so you adjust the fit with out tieing it ! ! !

Great jacket!!

My new favorite jacket!
My favorite jacket! I was hesitant about getting this jacket but I'm glad I did because it is the warm and stylish. I wore it out when it was between 0 to 5 degrees out and the only bad thing was my legs were cold. If you are looking to get a new winter jacket for work or just for looks this jacket is for you. It's pretty stiff but if it will last me years for just around 100 bucks then I can't complain .

Made in the USA
This jacket will last you a lifetime...period.
Very durable.
This jacket gets better with time, some usage. It can be stiff when new.
I recommend to wash before use, in cold water.
This jacket is tough as nails, and made in the USA!!!!!!
Get one. .
Thank you Carhartt, for making good garments, here in America.
Carhartt is one of the last USA made jackets. But Carhartt uses other countries, check the label.
For the price of this jacket, go for it. Well worth the price, for a jacket, that will last a life time.

Everything I expect in a jacket meant to work in.
I started out looking for a jacket to wear while clearing land that involved working with chainsaws, tractors, and various things of that nature. This jacket does everything I need it to. I'm a skinny guy (5'9", 130 lbs) it fits loose which isn't bad especially when you want to layer and still have mobility. It's pretty stiff when it's new but that's to be expected from a material of this caliber. I can't say enough good things about it.

Absolutely love it!
I absolutely love this jacket. I prefer this style over the Arctic J133 style. I love the flannel lining on the cold days where I'm working outside all the time. When it gets broken in, it is very east to move around in it. Never looses it's warmth. Extremely durable. It is a small price to pay to get a GREAT jacket!

Good but hood is weird
Just received this and tried it on. Fits well and is warm. However my only complaint it that the good seems to have a mind of its own and won't lay flat. It sticks out off my shoulders and at times the sides of the hood touch my ears. Very odd as I have never had this kind of issue before.

GREAT COAT FOR HARSH WEATHER
I was after this item in red at local stores and I could not find it. When I visited the web site, I found the price to be comparable to what I could find in the store. I bought this same coat about 25 years ago and have loved it for the harsh winters of Michigan. I won't buy a knockoff or something similar. since my experience with this coat has been very positive.

Excellent coats if you fit in them.
I bought this coat to replace a Carhartt I had worn over 15 years. Unfortunately I require a tall and this does not come larger than a 5x regular. I ended up giving it to a friend for his birthday and he seems to love it.

Best winter carhartt coat I own
This is a must have keeps you super warm in the cold Michigan winters. The hood is like wearing a winter hat. You can 100% tell and feel the difference as this coat is USA made. If you need a real coat buy this one I wear mind everyday to work in the cold months

Great jacket
Excellent fit and quality. Very warm, can get too warm at times.

A little stiff at first, but after getting the hood to fold down right, it's perfect. It takes a little while to get it broke in and soften up, but it's worth it.

Only problem was some loose threads that got caught in the zipper. Easy fix with a lighter.

Bottom of Jacket Needs to be More Close Fitting
The cut seems way more generous around the waist and should be tighter. This jacket needs to use a stronger elastic, the cold air comes right in. I'm concerned that after washing the jacket (I just purchased the jacket so I have time) the bottom of the jacket will be even looser.

Good Jacket.
I really like this jacket, good & warm, nice fit, durable.

I ordered the blaze orange, I was a bit let down as I was expecting more of a burnt as apposed to safety orange. However I love all orange and it still looks good.

The only thing I am not licking is that the hood is very stiff I find it hard to fully put the hood down when i am driving. However I am sure that it will loosen up with time.

Best coats made on earth
I own several Carhartt products as well as 10+ coats/jackets from Carhartt. Their coats are built to last. I have been wearing my first Carhartt coat since '99, and I still wear in during the cold months. I work for the railroad, so my coat must be able to keep up with the job. For a Carhartt coat, that's not a problem. I liked this style of coat so well, that I ordered 2 of them. One for me and one for my girlfriend, of course. I would recommend this coat to anyone that goes outside in the cold, whether it be for work or pleasure. The coat is very comfortable, durable and looks great. This coat will not let you down!!

J140 Jacket review
Really a great product. The only cons I had were: 1. The hood on this coat was larger that the other hood I have on other Carhartt coats making it hard to use pull ties to tighten it up and 2. Would like to see pockets that have more reinforcement as this tends to be a week spot on work coats because of all the stuff we cram into them

Excellent Jacket!!!!!!
Just ordered my third jacket of this type. Wouldn't buy any other jacket. I work in construction and need a jacket that keeps me warm and dry, and this jacket does the trick. Only onto my third jacket because the front pockets have holes in them, and the cuffs are frayed as well, but other wise still wearable. The hood keeps the wind off my neck and the deep front pockets are great for either warming hands or for carrying small items. The inner pockets are great for your cell phone as well. As with most new things it does require a breaking in period, and the hood gets in the way when new. But that soon goes away and the hood lies flat. I also have a pair of bibs that I wear with it, the whole ensemble keeps me warm and dry all winter long. I would definitely recommend this jacket to anyone who spends a lot of time outdoors. Not only that but it was cheaper here on the site then it would be at a store, even with the shipping fees.

Best gift ever!
I purchased this jacket as a Christmas gift for my "big and tall" son. Prior to Christmas he never wore a jacket, now he leaves for work with his CARHARTT jacket on everyday.

Unparallelled All-around
I can honestly say that I've never truly given a perfect rating to a product without question- until now. My J140 is going on it's 4th winter and you can barely tell. I have an older model soft duck Active Jac too. The duck material is literally like body armor and it can take anything you've got for it. I want more but I'm going to have to wait years until one of the two wears out! ***The J140 in the picture only has salt stains from Cleveland snow, those aren't defects. I just don't feel the need to wash it as much as nothing terrible can really penetrate the duck.

Very Warm Jacket
I got this jacket for my 14 tear old Son; and even though it's still a little big on him, I know he will grow into it. He says it's the warmest jacket he has ever had and loves it. I plan on getting one for myself too. I really like the soft warm lining and the hood is just right. This would make a great jacket for even the coldest weather. I own another Carhartt coat that has the arctic quilt and it will take me down to 0 degrees Fahrenheit with just a tee-shirt on underneath.

Quality example
I compared the quality of this jacket with a competitor. It takes the cake by far. I was given the competitor's jacket as a uniform jacket and decided to buy one of these jackets because of the history of Carhartt. I have had both jackets for about 3 years and the competitor's jacket is coming apart at the seams. The Carhartt jacket is still going strong. Don't think I don't wear both jackets equally either. I'm in construction and they both have been washed about 50 times each.

The PERFECT Coat
I have never had a jacket more capable, comfortable, versitile, or durable than this. Ive had this coat for a few years and wear it almost everyday. In the fall winter and spring its for sure everyday. It looks great and wears even better. This is my downright favorite peice of carhartt clothing. The amazing thing about this jacket is it can handle those freezing cold winters and also be completely comfortable in the spring and fall with the coat just zipped half way up like i have in the picture. I would recommend this jacket to everyone.

Second Carhartt
After the purchase of my first Carhartt jacket (J97) I decided to get another Carhartt jacket, but I wanted one that was hooded.

A friend...who works in the field for one of the well known wireless companies uses his J140 in the field and is completely satisfied with it. He recommended it when I asked him how he liked his. Based on his recommendation, I decided that I would get a J140.

Same durable construction as my other Carhartt with all the same capabilities. i.e. warmth, wind breaking, generous pockets, but with the addition of nylon cuffs, waist band, and hood.

Again, about the only criticism...more of an observation than criticism actually...is that this jacket, like my other Carhartt was STIFF when it was new. I've washed it twice since it's purchase and it was "loosened up" since then.

Like my other Carhartt jacket, I'm looking forward to years of good service from this one as well.

Best Coat Ever
I have just ordered 10 of these coats this month of Dec. 2009. The reason I ordered these coats was because in 2002, I ordered 10 of these coats for my family and had them embroidered with our stable names on them along with each person first name on the front. All of these coats are still in great shape except for the two coats that have been worn everyday from Nov.-April of each year and they were starting to fade and frazile around the sleeves. They have probably been washed at least once a week, maybe twice because of getting dirty at the barn. I had recommended these coats to the outriders at Turfway Park in Florence, Ky. They tried one of ours on and had me to order 3 for them. They liked them so well, that a week later they wanted me to order 5 more. I would recommend these coats to anyone who works out in the cold temperatures (40 degrees and down below zero) and around the barn areas. We work with horses and they have held up wonderfully.

Great coat!
Just bought one of these today, was just outside for over an hour in 9 degree snowing weather and was extremely warm.

Needs a little breaking in but I have a feeling this is going to last a long time.

Always wanted to buy one but went with cheap coats that wore out every two years, so i decided to finally get me a Carhartt.

Wouldn't Trust Anyone Else
I bought this coat over a year and half ago, and it was the best decision that I could have made!! This jacket is perfect for the cold Wisconsin winters! It keeps the wind out and the warmth in. It is durable, rugged, and tough. The jacket takes a while to break in, but once it does, this jacket will be your trustful buddy in wicked winter temps! The deep front pockets are great for holding anything from nails to tape measures, and the inside pocket keeps important papers or cell phones safe from the elements. The big hood is also great for keeping your head protected from the elements. Perfect jacket for getting the job done! Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed!!

Durable Warm Jacket

Number 2 for me
I bought the red version to replace my tan one that is going on 7 years old. I have been completely satisfied with these jackets. I am a chicken farmer and anyone that knows anything about that industry knows that any type of clothes you wear gets put through some tough work from abrasion to acid resistance and these jackets stand up to it all.

In fact the only thing really bad on my old jacket is it is deteriorating around the cuffs on the arms. I am also impressed by the addition of the inside pockets as this will be a big plus carrying paperwork which I do often in bad weather.

Definition of Quality
I recently bought this jacket to fight the cold in the mountains I am currently working on. Most of the drillers I work with wear Carhartt gear. This particular job I am on was the first time I was introduced to Carhartt. There are other brands that make heavy duty durable work gear but no one makes the gear as fashionable as Carhartt does. I have gone to purchase couple of Carhartt pants and beanie, and plan to purchase more. This jacket has a nice fit and keeps your very warm. The quality of the jacket when it comes to work gear is the best I've seen.

This is a great jacket
I spend a lot of time outside working for a large utility company, and this jacket has been a godsend. It took a about a week to break it in, but now I couldn't ask for a more comfortable article of work clothing. I've owned a number of Carhartts and have been very satisfied. This is no exception.

Red Duc Active Jacket
My mom loves it. It's a little bit big, but she has a cast on her arm, so it fits perfectly over the cast. NOW each person in my family has one. My father has black, my mom has the red, I have green (my favorite color) and my sister has brown. They are so warm and comfortable. They wear well, and they are rugged and tough. I recommend Carhartt products to all my friends and family, neighbors, etc. You can not find a better deal than with Carhartt.

I just replaced a 12 year old jacket by Carrhart with this one and expect to get another 12 years out of this one.
I wear it perfoming HVAC and building maintenance. by the way the old jacket is still in use for those really dirty jobs.

Dependable Quality
Even in these tough economic times, I won't compromise on quality, and this jacket proves again that carhartt is the best value out there when it comes to work clothes. It is well sized and comfortable to wear. The outer and inner pockets are generously sized and well thought out. I have worn this jacket on near-zero days, and find it very warm for its weight.

Warm But...
I like the jacket but found that the Elatic around the bottom of this jacket does not fit tight to the hips allowing cold air to enter around the bottom of the coat. The coat that this one was to replace has a tighter fit around the bottom. The elastic around the sleeves seems to be fraying already. Probably cheaper material.

Why did I wait so long.
I have been wanting a quality Carhartt product for many years and have always settled for cheap imitations. I finally got this hooded jacket for Christmas to travel back and forth to work and I can not believe the difference from similar jackets I have worn over the years. I just porchased a one peice coverall for work and in the spring will purchase the same stuff in lighter weight . I will never go back to the imitations. The slight difference in price is just not worth it.

Best Quality Around
I bought this jacket for my eighteen year old grandaughter for Christmas. It was what she wanted the most. She takes sheet metal and welding at the local teck school and Carhartt was recomended by her instructer because of the durability. She loves the jacket and wants another one for outside of school.

Excellent Value!
I initially purchased this jacket for my 12 year old grandson in a Kid's Large size for Xmas. The jacket fit well, but after assessing its durability I returned the jacket for a Men's regular, figuring he'd get several years use before the jacket showed any wear.

We've spent several days in the field since then and he reports the jacket warm without layering on 25 degree days and comfortable when bending/twisting, etc.

My wife complains I have too many coats/jackets in the closet now, but I'll thin them to make room for my own Active Quilt Jacket next year.

the jacket
i love this jacket. it is tough on the outside and very nice on the inside. warm warm warm... thats all i can say. im very pleased with it. but at first the hood can be annoying cuz its new and not brocken in but as soon as its broken in it will stay down. its a tough jacket. and its will take alot of abuse or seems to very comfortable. its got pockets for your cell phone wallet or knife whatever you want it for.

I got this jacket as a gift for Christmas and have worn it every day since. I'm a carpenter and the jacket is very easy to move around in . The pockets are big so small tools fit in when i need them to. the flannel lining is super warm, it is the warmest jacket that i own. Great gift and awesome jacket!

Great Jacket
As an installer I work outside most of the time.
this jacket is heavy duty But at the same time does not restrict my movement like other items can.This helps me do my job in very harsh weather conditions. I highly recommend this product for anyone working outside in the elements.

Warm, good to work in, and affordable.
This jacket is absolutley one of the best coats i have ever owned.

With a brand like Carhartt. There definetly worth paying any amount of money.
But in this case the jacket is only $85.00.

It's worth atleast $120, with the warmth, comfort, and its DEFINEETLY durable in any winter weather.

Rather its snow, rain, sleet or hail this jacket is reliable, pracitcally waterproof/snowproof even though its not under the category.

I would definetly reccomend this jacket to anyone.

Needs to be broken in
The lining was a little scratchy and static-y at first but it is becoming softer after about two weeks. The outer fabric is also a little stiff at first but it softens up. Over all is is a great jacket, very warm and I like the way it looks.

Functional and warm

Rugged Quality
I am a self employed electrician and have worn this jacket for years. I just spray the water proof on it it each year and we are set. Either on a job or down in the bottoms fixing fence, I can count on it to do it's job.

Great Quality, but needs to break in
The coat is great for our cold winters, fairly short for a Tall size. The most obnoxious part is the stiffness of the fabric, especially in the hood from being new. It will take several weeks to break it in.

Gift for my husband
Got this coat for my husband and he LOVES IT!. It is very good quality, strong material and super warm. It is definitely a good coat for an outdoor working man. I got the beanie too, and it is just as good a quality and material. Not to mention my guy looks so good in it :)

Casual Warmth
The jacket is a quality product that resist snow and light rain. It is warm without being bulky. I like and use the inside breast pockets and the two outside pockets are used for glove storage. I wish the hood was removable because it does get in the way when wearing the jacket while driving.

Nice coat but wore out fast.
I got this for my boyfriend for Christmas. It keeps him really warm and he likes it a lot. He wears a large in most shirts/hoodies but a medium in the coat fits him good. My only complaint is that he has only had it for a couple weeks and at the seems it seems to be worn out. This may be because he wears it almost everyday but I thought it would hold up a little better

Men’s Duck Active Jac/Quilted-Flannel Lined
this item was purchased for my son for christmas this is what he wanted it was his # 1 request not the i pod touch or the lap top i bought him it was this carhartt it looks great and it keeps him warm and up until he got this he wouldnt even wear a coat and if anyone out there has a teenager they know how hard it is to get them to wear a coat it takes a about two weeks to break it in at first it was a little stiff but in the snow and rain and wind if you have this coat its like it doesnt even matter it has no effect it keeps you dry and warm its the best coat ive ever bought ..i would definately buy this coat over and over again now i just have to keep my daughter from tryen to take it she wants to take it and dye it pink ...lol.. so if you want a perfect coat this is a win win situation .

Extremely poor lining choice!!!
I have had many Carhartt products and love the brand. I bought this J140. It has the "flannel" lining, which is actually 100% polyester. I do woodworking and it catches sawdust and does not wash out. Nice jacket...poor choice of lining material.

Everything is excellent but the HOOD!!!
Jacket is still everything it has been in the past. Warm, durable and comfortable except for the hood they put on it. I always wear a sweatshirt underneath that already has a hood so now i have to hood which is annoying. They used to make it without a hood which was perfect, guess thats why they had to quit making it because it worked to well! Not happy at all with the hood!!!!
