Warmest hat
The fleece this hat is made of is very high quality, thick and oh so warm. The face,nose cover is very soft and smooth making it comfy. The face shield folds right inside the hat if you don't want to utilize it but stays attached so it doesn't get lost. I am very pleased with it and glad I bought more than one cause my peeps were wanting it after trying it on.

Warm even in Maine
I walk my britany spaniel every night after work for about an hour in an area that has opennfields and trails through woods. I live in central Maine, and it gets cold in winter. It gets windy on the field I walk. Can you say "wind chill"? 10 below zero , or lower, is chilly. This hat is great. Keeps neck/cheeks warm. Flexible to wear as just a hat or with neck protection. Very compact. I like the way it fits without bulk, so I can pull my hood up over this hat, for even more warmth. Makes for a flexible, warm, compact system. Overall 5 stars. The only drawback is that I wish it came in " extra large." It,s just a bit snug on my noggin. One size doesn't fit all. Please read this review Carhartt, and make an XL size. My spaniel loves the cold-don't worry, she's well-cared for (and a bit spoiled :-) ).

Best for any cold weather
I wear this when I ride my motorcycle when its cold and have called it my WARMY HAT. I also have one at work since I work outside and its the best hat I have used. The face mask comes in handy when the wind blows and I am above ground. It will serve you well. Easy to clean and looks good. Love it when I blow snow at home. Great product form a great company. I own several Carhartt cold weather products like coats and insulated bibs.

Great for cold weather working.
This hat has worked great for me during winter ops at a Oregon airport and in the cold, windy plains of North Dakota.
I’ve used this beenie while de-icing aircraft in a man basket at 4 in the morning with below zero weather and pounding posts in -°10 wind.
The beenie is very warm and does a good job protecting the ears, the drop down face mask works really well to keep the edge off.
The one minor annoyance I could find is that when you are wearing a hard hat, the beenie will bunch up a bit weird on top of your head but then again it’s winter, things are going to bunch up.
10/10 would recommend!

Too LARGE!!!
Had high hopes for this hat because of the built-in ear flaps, however, it’s ridiculously too large causing it to come down to my eyes, even below my eyes, and while the ear flaps cover my ears, which is a good thing, the flaps come down to my neck. I look totally stupid in this thing and I have an average-size head. I’m guessing this hat was designed for someone with a massive head.

Great Value
I can't believe this thing is only $20. I have paid more for less warm beanies and this is my go to during winter fishing trips. Excellent job keeping my nose and chin warm during 30+ mph runs on 30 degree days. No complaints.

2 in1headwear
i bought this hat about 4 years ago it is a good winter hat if you work in constuction like i do. it's the only one that i have found that could fit under my hard hat.my only con is that i wish you get it in a larger size (i have a large head) other than that i would like to order another one so that i could rotate them when one gets dirty.

Nice and warm
This is a great hat for those windy days in Colorado. I use it over a baseball cap because I have a small head. It was nice and warm. Just wish the face/neck piece covered the back of the neck.

Very Warm & Versitile
This is thin enough to wear under a Hard hat. It is much warmer than the Carhartt Force Helmet Liner Mask, but it does not cover the back of the neck. On extremely cold days I wear the Force Helmet Liner as a Base Layer, under the Fleece 2-in-1 for maximum warmth. Both items can be worn together under a Hard Hat.

Kansas Wind Cant Blow this Hat off your Head
The winds in the winter of Kansas can be brutal. This hat was a lifesaver. The nose mouth covering piece holds the ear flaps down. No one in the family has gotten a cold or flu so far this year. I got one of these for every member in the family. Paired with the hood on your jacket your head wont even notice its winter. Highly recommend!!!

Not warm like I thought
I live in northern Minnesota and we have cold spells where the high for the day can be -15 with -50 wind chills. I ordered my mom and dad each a hat for Christmas and I tried one when I went outside to feed the deer. I was very disappointed in the fact that this hat was not warm at all. The mask is nice but will not keep me warm at least in the middle of winter. Would be great for a fall/spring time hat.

Great Hat

Outdoor Carpenters
I bought two of these hats, one for my husband and one for a friend. They are carpenters and work outside all year around. They absolutely LOVE this hat! Both men have bushy beards and do not feel the face cover is too restrictive but still keeps the chill off. I would highly recommend for the bearded man in your life!

LATE SEASON MUST HAVE FOR BOWHUNTERS!!
I have finally found the one!! This beanie and face mask combo is an A+ must have for late season bowhunters. It is not bulky and will not interfere with anchor points when in full draw. Keeps me super warm and comfortable and on those extra cold and windy days, just throw a little hot hands pouch in there and its like sitting by the fire at 20 feet up!!

Hubby's loss is wifey's gain!
My husband received one of these as a Christmas gift a few years ago but he found it far too snug for comfort on his rather large cranium. I ended up claiming it a year later when my car refused to start one ridiculously cold morning (it was pushing -50 with the wind chill) and ended up having to walk to work. I've been using it ever since. I've saved so much time and money not having to mess with scarves (ugh, tedious!), and it's still holding up well. Don't feel a darn thing, it's a life saver!

SO WARM!
This does exactly what it says it does - it keeps your head and face warm in bitter cold temps. I walked around outside in 20 degree weather for a while when our roads were iced over, and this kept my head and face completely warm and cozy. Does exactly what it's supposed to do. You can easily fold the cafe cover inside the cap and fold the ears up if needed, too, for a nice warm hat.

I wore this cap in 20 degree windy weather while goose hunting in West Texas. I was completely warm. The face mask really helps protect from the cold too. I highly recommend this for the outdoorsman. Just wish it came in camo.

One of my Favorite Carhartt Purchases
Worked 10-14hr days, many times in -17 degree weather doing snow removal in Upstate New York last winter and this hat kept my head warm at all times. Freezing wind didn't stand a chance. I lost this hat last week, I'm here on this site to purchase another one. I wore it all the time, when there wasn't any wind it was easy enough to just tuck the face shield up into the cap and flip up the ear flaps. Everyone in cold weather climates should have one of these bad boys.

Best Hat Ever
I have purchased one about 5 years ago due to multiple ear surgeries and many ear infections. It has become essential to keep ears warm and free of wind at all times. This hat met and exceeded that expectation by far. The only hat I will ever use and highly recommend if warmth is a MUST for you also. Soon will own them all in each color!!! :)

Great product
I lost my first one. Just bought 4 more, 1 for hunting gear with another for backup and 1 for at home with a back up. Compact, warm, tight with ability to use the face mask or not. Efficiently accomplishes its purpose.

I live in rural eastern Iowa. During the brutally cold winter of 2013-2014 we had what the weather man called a POLAR VORTEX, the temperature ran from 15 to 25 degrees below zero with wind speeds of 15 to 25 miles an hour, creating wind chills of 35 to 50 degrees below zero. To make a long story short, this is without a doubt the warmest most comfortable head wear I have ever wore. I highly recommend this product.

Warmest Hat Ever
My wife and I run a small farm in northwest Ohio. We spend a lot of time outside and with open fields all around us, the cold and the wind of the winter is down right Brutal!
This hat is warmest hat that I have ever had. It is very comfortable and it stays in place even with the face mask tucked under the hat!
I purchased my first hat about 2 years ago, it has been washed hundreds of times and it is still as warm and fits as it did the day it was new. Shortly after I wore my hat the first time, I ordered another, just in case my original one was misplaced. I ordered two of the women’s styles for my wife as well. Thanks for a Great product!

Love it
Recently purchased the 2 in 1 fleece cap and I love it. It's warm and comfortable. It fits snugly and I wear a size 7 1/4 so if you have a larger head just be prepared.

Best Headwear Gear
The dual purpose hat is very helpful for the reasons I purchased it. I am a duck hunter that hunts in the coldest weather of the season. This combination of a facemask and beanie helps aid in keeping me warm during the roughest of conditions.

Wind Techs....... Check this out
These things are the total package for the guys that make a living 300 feet up everyday. Between hub entry's and changing meteorological equipment in a sleet storm, it is enough to freeze you to the bone. These hats provide that slight warmth that most of us wind techs search for. Contrary to popular belief, it does get cold in west Texas. Definitely recommend!

I love mine
imines love mine so much I had to buy several of them to give as Christmas presents. if mine ever wears out I will definitely buy another but the one I have doesn't show any sign of wearing out anytime soon it will probably last another 5 years or more.
once you've had carhartt nothing else will substitute

Vary sweet hat!
vary warm hat my favorite hat so far i shovel snow in the winter and live on a farm and when your out side in sub zero all day and night working you can't stop when your chin is frozen

Great Purchase

BEST WINTER HAT EVER!!!!
Bought this hat for work, working on semi trucks all day sometimes outside i think this is the best hat i have ever bought. I have one for at home also and the other day wisconsin had a big snow storm and i had to plow the driveway on my 4 wheeler my head,ears and face were very warm in 0deg 50mpg winds. I hope they dont stop making this hat,its the best one they make.Thank You Carhartt

Out of the cold!
My son & son-in-law both work in the oilfield business. Both of them are outside in the weather & really appreciated receiving these as gifts. They say it definitely keeps their heads & ears warm & when it's cold & windy, the drop down helps them to breathe in their own warm breath instead of cold wind. These are keepers!

Have not done the helmet test but on its own it's the best headwear for cold and wind. The optional mask is lightly lined in fleece which keeps you warm but does not accumulate sweat as fleece tends to do. It fits very snugly with just enough room in the back for me to let my hair out, which is critical for me as I have a ton of thick hair and can never wear those full head hoods. The ear flaps give great coverage but do not obstruct hearing too much. As a person who hates hats, I give this 5 stars.

Worth buying at twice the price. Serioulsy
I bought this for work, as I work in a refrigerated warehouse which also contains a freezer section at -10 degrees. This hat/mask keeps me warm all day, 8 hours, sometimes more. One nice feature is that the mask starts above your ears, so they are covered by both the mask material and the top part, 2 layers of protection. For my face I have flip over a small portion of the 'nose' section, but it doesn't make the fit uncomfortable. The mask does collect moisture from breathing, but while you're wearing it you can't really tell, only if you take it off and put it back on. This thing will do exactly what you want and need it to do, don't hesitate to pick one up.

Quality Product
This 2-in-1 head gear is great! There are 2 things that i really love about this product.
1. Comfortable - this head gear is really comfortable even if you tuck the face mask in to the hat.
2. Windproof - the face mask is really great on windy days b/c the material its made out of really deflects the wind. It makes even the windiest day seem mild when you wear it. I would reccomend this product to anyone who will be in the elements for an extended period of time.

very warm
soft, very warm, face mask is a great touch when the wind is kicking up. My hat size is 6/3/4 to 7", I purchased the black hat it is a little tight but still comfortable. the face mask folds into the hat when not in use. Thought it would be uncomfortable but that is not the case. great product.

Ultimate Fleece 2-in-1 headwear is the very best
The plush fleece in the headwear ensures warmth and soft-to-the-touch comfort even in frigid winter conditions for your head and ears. "This hat is perfect for late fall/early winter hunts when you're active and moving and the temps are -61F - 37F degrees with strong winds as it was for me in Antarctica." Needless to say, it was quite effective. Moisture was wicked away but it was very warm and would probably have been effective in far colder temps. The nice part is when you're finished using the Buff for it's intended purpose, they make fine winter hats. They don't interfere with glasses in either configuration and are comfortable for long periods of time. "This is the last piece of winter head wear that I will own.

Can you be too warm?
Bought this off the website, and I love it. The only problem I have with it is that my ears are too friggin big, so my ear lobes stay a little cold unless I a)pull it down regularly, or b) just use the face mask part, tucking it under my chin when I dont really need it. Its all things carhartt, warm , comfortable, durable, and awesome. The only other problem I have with it is that I wear glasses and hafta remember to exhale through my mouth , or else my lenses fog up .

Great, but a little to snug
This is an awesome hat it is extremly good in cold weather. Had really fast shipping. The only thing wrong with this hat is i have a larger than average head and the hat is a bit to snug it litteraly is skin tight, but as mentioned earlier that might just be the black ones (i did get a black one). Even though it is that tight it is still very comfotable. Other than that i would recomend this to any one living in a colder climate.

Great hat!
I do a lot of traveling to cooler/colder regions of the US - PA, SD, ND, WI, ME and MA to name a few and this hat is perfect.
It's thin enough to stash in a jacket pocket but thick enough to keep my bald head warm.
I purchased all three colors - gray, black and brown. They all fit really well and I have somewhat of a large head. However, the black seems to be a little more snug than the gray and brown. The face mask is a little tight but that is probably because of my large head. It's also nice to be able to tuck the face mask up inside the hat but that does cause a little bit of extra bulk in an already snug fit.
But, all in all, this is a great product. I use it while traveling, fishing, shooting and any other outdoor activity where I need to keep my head and ears warm and still be able to turn my head and see.
I would definitely recommend this product.

GREAT PRODUCT!
I have used the Fleece 2-in-1 Headwear. for all my outdoor activities and it is a wonderful asset to have with the winds we have on the central plains. Protects against wind burn and helps in the heat retention. A WONDERFUL PRODUCT. Purchased several for gifts as well!

Essential equipment
This is a great hat for winter weather, and versitile enough to use in fall and early spring. It doesnt slide up like most knit hats and stays put, yet your able to fold up ear flaps when using the phone or entering buildings, and the face mask that is built in is fantastic in face protection in bad weather. Great design, but need additional color selection other than gray.

One of the Best!!!!!
I tend to work outdoors at times when I'm not plowing snow or directing traffic and this has got to be one of the best purchases I've ever made. The thin material makes it easy to store in a pocket when I'm not using it. Once you put it on the difference is instint. You can tuck the face piece into the top of the hat and wear it as a stocking hat or use the face shield and the hat. Breathing through the material is never a problem and your ears will thank you on the super cold winter days. Well worth the price no matter what it may go for!!!!!!!!

Awesome Product
I tryed some other fleece produts before but never a hat. This one is awesome!!! I have used it in below zero weather snowblowing and can't believe how warm it is. A friend of mine liked it so I got him one for Christmas and he feels the same way. Great job on this one Carhartt!!!!!

Great Product
I bought this hat/ gator for my husband. He wanted something to help cover his neck and face, but regular face masks exposed too much of his face to give him the comfort he needed in extreme cold weather. This winterwear has given him the edge he needs to do what he needs to do safely in cold conditions. I would recommend this product to anyone needing winter protection. It offers a tight, dry fit. Enjoy! He sure is!
