Perfect cool weather sweatshirt
I teally enjoy wearing this sweatshirt. It’s more like a medium weight jacket than a sweatshirt. I’ve worn it in the rain several times and the rain beads right off. I like the inside chest pocket to hold my phone or wallet. I have an iphone 8 plus in an otterbox case. It’s huge and it fits perfectly in the pocket. The main front pockets are spacious and have a flap that covers the top and offers some protection to the contents. A nice feature. It is easy to put on because it uses a heavy duty zipper as opposed to having to pull it over your head. The Hood also has sherpa lining in it and is nice and warm on your head even with no winter hat. I love mine and highly recomend it especially for chilly wet weather

The Ultimate Day Cab Chicken Hauler Sweatshirt
This has become one of my most essential clothing items for driving. Since I drive a day cab semi hauling live chickens with no sleeper, this sweatshirt is essential for cool to cold weather. With the shepa liner, it is great for cooler nights or even cold nights when jumping out, going into a truck stop, refueling the tractor or loading or unloading the trailer, along with protection from flying chicken debris. If it starts to rain, no problem since it has rain defender protection. The great sheep liner not only provides warmth but also adds a soft place to lay my head when bunched up to use as a pillow since I don’t have a sleeper and DOT has mandated drivers take a half hour break. The hood fits well over my Carhartt ball cap, but also when napping it provides a dark place by covering my eyes while on break. There is plenty of space in the pockets which has easy open rain protection flaps to prevent rain entry as well as an inside pocket for my cell phone. A perfect sweatshirt for everyday carry and use in any truck.

It’s good, but not great
It’s semi warm, but the sleeves are not Sherpa lined. It’s good and comfortable for fall to early winter weather. But anything below 35 you need something warmer.

Love it!
Love my Rain Defender Rockland Sherpa-Lined Hooded Sweatshirt! Fit was great, the Sherpa lined is waaay warmer then I thought it would be. I’m really happy with my Carhartt purchase. I’m 6ft 200lbs athletic build and the Large is a perfect fit.

First Rain Defender, but not my last!
What an amazing sweatshirt! I have always loved Carhartt sweatshirts, but have never had anything with Rain Defender. This sweatshirt is truly water proof and has kept me dry in some of the worst situations I have been in. It keeps you warm with the sherpa-lined, so it is extremely warm and can be hot in warmer conditions. Since it is water proof it doesn't breath as well as other sweatshirts, but it is the price to pay for being dry.
I had this sweatshirt in my truck when I pulled over and helped someone with a flat tire in a very remote area. I grabbed it and put it over my work clothes in the pouring rain, replaced her tire and got her on her way and I was completely dry and clean. This sweatshirt saved me from getting dirty and allowed me to help someone else!

This is more functional than expected.
I am usually not very keen on zip up sweatshirts, but this one has changed my perception. The exterior fabric is extremely durable and the sherpa lining is really warm. The water repellent treatment is way better than I expected. It is also windproof. The hood is very roomy and I would recommend having on a ball cap or it will obstruct your view. The hidden cell phone pocket is almost a universal fit. The only suggestion I would have for Carhartt is to offer it in a Digital Camo Pattern.

Very nice very warm
Received this as a gift and it arrived on a blustery spring day so I had the perfect opportunity to try in out while sitting watching a high school soccer game, the sweat shirt is very warm and breaks the wind nicely great features like a cell phone pocket inside the main pocket. I use this as much as possible outdoors would definitely recommend purchasing if you are in need of a warm sweatshirt.

The Perfect Full-Zip Sweatshirt for Northeast
Once again, Carhartt has designed a great multi-season sweatshirt. This sweatshirt is great in fall, winter, and early spring days in colder climates, like the Northeast. The lining is soft and warm, wind resistant. Most important, the full zip sweater is easy to move in under all types of working conditions. It also is great while driving and is not bulky. I'm able to wear this sweatshirt jacket most of the year; its become my go-to jacket throughout the year.

Great All-Around Jacket/Sweatshirt
I am impressed with this sweatshirt/jacket--it is comfortable, WARM, tough, spacious, and actually lives up to the claim of "rain defender."
The sherpa lining is in the "vest" area of the garment (torso, but not arms). A different material is in the sleeves; a smooth almost satin-type of material. Both are very comfortable. The outer shell looks like a regular sweatshirt or knit jersey material, but it is much more dense and tough. It's not easy to pick it or catch the material on a rough surface (not impossible, but the material doesn't try to grab things on its own). The hood is generous and doesn't feel constricting or limiting. Clever "flaps" at the hand pockets keep things secure.
The garment is a little heavy in terms of carrying it around "just in case." I used it at a conference that was in a frigid hotel room, and it did great keeping me warm and comfortable. However, when I was carrying it around before/after wearing it, it was a bit bulky compared to a lightweight sweater or some other type you'd carry for that use. This isn't a strike against it, it's just a product of the garment being warm and full-featured.
The Rain Defender material/coating works as advertised. It'll repel a thorough soaking--I'm not sure how long, and I wouldn't test it as a raincoat, but it more than does the job when caught outside and you can't run for cover right away. I'd imagine it will do great in snow as well.
I'm torn about calling this a "sweatshirt" as it is so much more than a regular 'ol sweatshirt that I'm used to seeing. It's every bit of a jacket, and then some.
This sweatshirt/jacket will serve you well in low temps with wind and precipitation. It's got plenty of room to move without being baggy, and it stays in place. You're not constantly resetting the arms or waist.

Becoming One Of My Favorites
Very Nice full front zip hooded sweatshirt. The Sherpa lining is warm and comfortable. Only had it for a couple weeks, but I checked out the fit and finish and like all Carhartt products I have bought it’s well made. Great for when the weather goes from frosty to not so frosty and back again. And the rain defender works well on those misty and light rainy days. I only have two suggestions for Carhartt with this item with Sherpa lining. 1. Make one with an option that has quilted insulated sleeves along with the Sherpa lining. 2. Make it available in Carhartt Brown ( my favorite color ). Thanks. P.S. Thanks Carhartt for making the big and tall sizes. I know I’ll aways get the right fit and be protected and warm with Carhartt. 20 year Customer.

Exceeds expectations
Fits true to size. Nice design, works really well in the rain and is warmer than the pullover. The Sherpa lining doesn’t extend into the sleeves, but that makes it much easier to put on when wearing long sleeves.

Extended hood!
Originally order a XL Tall the jacket was too long. Returned and ordered XL in black and charcoal. I was specifically looking for something with an extended hood and Sherpa lined and this is perfect. Love the Zipper too it is extra durable Hard to find an extended hood so I ordered two just in case

Great hoody!

Amazing Sweatshirt.
I love this sweatshirt. I wear it as much as I can. It is super comfortable and works well in the rain. I really like how the pockets have flaps that hold my keys or phone so they don't fall out.

Fantastic sweatshirt!!!
This is one of the best sweatshirts I have ever owned! It is very comfortable, and has nice size hand pockets. The cell phone pocket is even large enough to hold larger cell phones too. The hood is nice and large and provides very good coverage. The Sherpa lining is very nice and gives that added warmth needed for cooler times. Overall, a great product and well worth it for the money!

Warm and dry as toast
Received this sweatshirt as part of a promotion but this review is in no way influenced by that. Without a doubt this is the warmest sweatshirt I have ever owned. Not good for summer months in the south but the other three seasons its got you covered literally. Rain defender works amazing and kept me dry on several rainy days. Not sure how long it lasts but it works now and after having washed it twice it is still working.
Looks nice and feels nice against the skin. Heavy duty zipper seems made to last a lifetime. Fabric is smooth and does not snag or pick when working on a framing job. Pockets are generous and also a good place to warm your cold wet hands when needed. I am normally a pull over sweatshirt guy because the other zip ups I have had bunch up in the middle but this one is very relaxed and stays where it should. This is my new go to jacket for spring, fall and all but the coldest days of winter.

Got it in the spring and was I happy!
I got this in the spring, when it was raining continuously and chilly. I live in upcountry Maui and although folks seem to think it's all beaches and hula girls; we live at about 1800' and it gets cold (not mainland cold- 40's)in the winter and spring. It also rains non-stop in the spring. This sweatshirt is awesome for light rain and cool weather! Fits good and repels water very well. I'm interested to see how long the water repellent lasts! So far so good. Carhartt quality. I really like this one.

Comfortable Jacket
This an excellent addition to anybodies coat rack. This is nice jacket that has Rain defender to shed off rain, the liner is warm especially for those late spring and early fall days, were you need something a bit more and not Winter Jacket. The flap covering the pockets is a great addition. Especially when you are working and get saw dust, dirt or even grain in every pocket. Jacket runs a bit large, nothing real bad.

Awesome full zip sweatshirt.......
When you need warmth, it is going to rain and you do not want to wear Duck Cloth based Carhartt's to knock out your work!
The Sherpa lining is super soft on your skin & super warm. I love the extra flap over the outside pockets (to prevent "stuff" from falling out) the extra inside "key pocket" is a super feature to make sure you don't lose valuables.
I am 6'4 about 200lb's - the jacket runs "big" vs. a "trim" fit I would prefer (you maybe able to go down 1 size) and I wish the inside chest pocket had velcro on it to make sure items don't fallout when bending over.

This Hoodie is just the Ticket!
Quality & craftsmanship are commendable!! Heavy weight, warm, comfortable, and the Arctic Iowa winds do not penetrate. Worth every penny. Exactly what I needed for outdoor work! [ I like the inside cell phone pocket as well.]

My husband loves it.. he's working on snow removal and last night he came back and was so happy about the rain defender... He just shakes away the water drops and it was still dry... Now we have to wash it properly so that it stays like that..
