Originally, Getz's was a store without a name. Louis Getz established as a general business merchandise store in Michigamme, Michigan in 1879. He had a partner in the business, and the two sold dry goods to the locals. The small business burned down in the spring of 1885, and Louis saw that unfortunate event as an opportunity for his business to grow.

Getz rented a space on the corner of Baraga Street and Front Street and called his new business "The Bee Hive." The Daily Mining Journal reported "...he intends to make it swarm with customers, by treating them to the honey at low prices... He will carry everything in the line of clothing, dry goods, boots, and shoes..." And Louis did just that.

Around 1900, the business outgrew that space on Baraga Street and moved to its current location on the corner of Spring and Front in the heart of Downtown Marquette. Getz's is the only department store of its kind left in Marquette, and one of very few in the Upper Peninsula. With three floors full of footwear and apparel for men, women and kids, you're sure to find what you need at Getz's.

In 1997, www.getzs.com was launched and quickly became one of the largest online Carhartt distibutors in the U.S. That is still true today, as over 30,000 Carhartt orders are shipped from the Getz's warehouse each year.

Getzs.com doesn't stop at Workwear. Over the years, the brand list has grown from under a dozen to over 70 vendors, ranging in products from active to heritage and even fashion. Staying true to the style of Getz's Clothiers, getzs.com also evolved with the times and grown with its customer base. Recently, getzs.com has been redesigned, and the site is now divided into four 'departments' so that you can shop where you want, or browse them all. It is now easier than ever to shop Getz's online. Its success has had three driving factors: premium products, incredible customer care, and lastly, a platform for shopping which is easy to find, navigate, explore, compare, purchase, and discuss products of your choice.
